A speculation about the daily poetics, the ordinary actions that constitute the everyday life, and, however and for that very reason, pass unnoticed. Study created for the 2008 SESC Dance Solos/Rio de Janeiro.
bio Dani Lima was born in Rio de Janeiro. She has studied contemporary dance, acrobatics, contact-improvisation and theatre, among other disciplines. She was a participant of the New Circus group Intrépida Trupe for 13 years.
Her artistic trajectory has been enriched through the years by several workshops with many international artists, such as Dudude Herrmann, Sonia Motta, Thomas Lehmen, Vera Mantero, Olga Mesa, João Fiadeiro and Juan Dominguez, among others.
Since 1997 she has her own company, with whom she has created various performances (Piti/1998; Nato/1999; Digital Brazuca/2001; Vaidade/2001; Do the parts speak of the whole?/2003; Real Life in 3 Chapters/2006). As a choreographer she is interested in inquiries concerning body’s identity, memory and perception, thus investing in transdisciplinary experiences and in a “poetics of everyday life body”.
Dani has been teaching at the UniverCidade/RJ since 2001 and has a master’s degree in Theatre. She published the book “Body, Politics and Discourse in Lia Rodrigues’s Dance”.
She also has been working in collaboration with many Brazilian artists and companies, such as Lia Rodrigues, Gustavo Ciríaco, Denise Stutz, Marcela Levy, Michel Melamed, Felipe Rocha , Tatiana Grinberg, João Modé and Intrépida Trupe. ___________________________________________
